In this day and age, network security is no longer a big corporation problem. Fortunately, there are solutions that don't come with the big corporate costs. I use Unifi products from Ubiquiti. Unifi firewalls, switches, and access points are rich with features. For example, it is a common need for a business to want to keep its local network secure, yet provide wireless internet access to clients. Unifi does this, and much more. For those wanting a firewall that provides more security, I would install a firewall from Sonicwall. With yearly subscriptions, your network can be secured further with features such as Gateway Anti-Virus, Intrusion Prevention, Anti-Spyware, and Content Filtering.
Ransomware is a real threat, but by taking the right precautions, it can be avoided. It begins with securing your network (see Network Security). The next step is to secure your devices with Antivirus and your email with Antispam. Once these are in place, it’s time to protect that data further by backing up what is important to you. The key here is to have an efficient backup system that results in multiple copies of your data with at least one copy off-site (i.e., in the cloud). I can provide all that is needed for data protection - antivirus, antispam, a local backup to a server, Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device and/or an external hard drive, and off-site backup to the cloud.
An invaluable service that I offer is the Preventative Maintenance Service Agreement. This is available for a monthly or yearly fee. This service agreement concentrates on the health and longevity of your computers. Under this agreement, computers will be physically cleaned inside and out, a series of scans will be conducted, updates and diagnostics will be run, and suggestions for improved performance will be provided when applicable. The minimum frequency for this service agreement is twice a year. However, four times a year is recommended, and it can be as frequent as once a month. Additionally, the service agreement includes discounted prices for services that are outside of the agreement (i.e, repairs and troubleshooting).
When a computer has become unusable due to hardware or software failure, it can greatly affect work production, employee’s attitudes, and client relations. I can help you get ahead of these issues with a Preventative Maintenance Service Agreement. However, if the problem has already occurred, I can remote to your computer (Internet connection required) to resolve the issue. When the issue requires a face-to-face, I come to your place of business to troubleshoot the issue, find a solution that best meets the need, and do the necessary repairs. Depending on the issue, most repairs can be completed on the same day.
It is important that you know your options. Therefore, I offer consulting to help small businesses and organizations find the best solutions and to purchase the right products. You can rely on me to have the knowledge necessary to address your technology needs in a way that is not only most efficient, but affordable as well.
Does your business, church, or organization need a website, or not satisfied with your current website? Most people will expect to find a website for your business or organization, so let's not disappoint. I can help you set up a "business" style website like this one, or perhaps a simple one-page "brochure" style website will do the trick.
Similiar to the Preventative Maintenance Service Agreements offered to Small Businesses, the Service Agreement plans for churches and nonprofits go a step further. They provide the necessary services needed, but at a cost that is much less than what others would charge. In addition to providing preventative maintenance, Service Agreements provide extended services at one low cost per year. Each plan includes a set amount of on-site visits, remote support, and off-site support.
Perhaps your church or organization would like to host a computer workshop. The workshop could be for "members only" or open to the public. Whether it is a one time workshop or several workshops that cover multiple topics, I am open to conducting the workshop in a variety of different ways. There would be a small fee which can be paid by the church or organization, or per attendee.
Need a guest speaker for your next gathering? There are a number of topics on which I could speak. Topics could range from protecting your identity while online, to avoiding scams, to utilizing technology. Whatever the topic, you can expect it to be presented in a manner that is both interesting and engaging, and perhaps entertaining at times. Men's or women's groups, youth or senior adults, It would be a pleasure to speak with any of these groups.
It's not about "spying" on people. It's about knowing when people have entered and exited your building, that nothing is happening outside your building, or that areas with children are safe. Simply put, it's about being cautious.
Research shows that significant savings can be made by moving your phone system to one that is Internet-based. Doing so would require the right network infrastructure.
When a remote connection to your computer is not possible, there is no need to come to me, I'll come to you. I'll gladly come to you to install software or computer equipment, copy data to a new computer, remove malware, or whatever you might need. My service area is more limited than it is for buisnesses. See the FAQ page for more information.
Viruses and malware cause major issues, even for residential clients. Pop-ups, browser extensions, annoying ads, and other issues can really slow down your computer. Also, beware of scams! If you're going to let someone acces your computer remotely, be sure they can be trusted. Better yet, have someone local fix any issues.
Keep your important documents, photos, and music safe. I have low-cost options. Either backup several computers with a limited amount of storage space, or backup one computer with an unlimited amount of storage space.
